ECSD is currently hiring for a Before and After School Time Program Director. This is a new position that is funded by the Outside of School Time grant.   The OST Program Director is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation program goals and objectives. Before and after school programs are designed to address learning loss and social, emotional and academic needs of students. The program director will be organized, energetic, creative and detail oriented. Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.  Education, Child Care, Before / After School Program Experience preferred, but not required.  Hours are flexible (approx 29 hours a week - school year only, program is not held during the summer). Pay rate is $20.13 - $29.06 depending on education and experience. Ellsworth Basketball Association 6th-Grade Travel team ran up a 6-1 record and qualified for the Championship Game on Dec 11 in Onalaska at the League Championship Tournament. The tournament is an invitational to the top 32 teams in the GNBL. After defeating Chippewa Falls, Galesville-Ettrick-Trempeleau, LaCrosse Aquinas, Marshfield, Superior, & Onalaska Luther, the Panthers fell short against Onalaska Royal, finishing in 2nd place.

This position is supporting elementary students with special needs with primary assignments in kindergarten. On December 2nd, 6th graders from Ellsworth Middle School participated in a Courage Retreat conducted by Youth Frontiers. Youth Frontiers, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that partners with schools to create more positive school communities. “The Youth Frontiers Courage Retreat inspires character by empowering a single grade level of students to act with moral courage and identify the social fears and peer pressures that impede responsible decision-making. The retreat encourages them to take positive risks that make a healthy difference for themselves, their peers and your school. Participation in the retreat results in cognitive, attitudinal and behavioral shifts that decrease students’ distractions to learning and build a positive school community. “- Youth Frontiers Students arrived at Zion Covenant Church in Ellsworth and were greeted by excited high school mentors. 6th grade students were broken down into small groups and discussed ideas on how to treat each other better, and how to become engaged and stand up for one another. There were large group activities with music and singing, communicating important messages, while encouraging student participation. Interactive games were played throughout the day to break down barriers, increase trust, and encourage teamwork within the 6th grade class. At the end of the day students were asked to focus on an act of courage they will strive for. It was a great day, with a lot of impact!
