Homecoming festivities start today!! Head over to Fuller-Symes Field today for Royalty Coronation & the much anticipated Powder Puff Football Game.

It’s no secret that vaping is on the rise, especially among teenagers. Tobacco companies specifically targeted their advertisements toward youth, and despite not knowing what the long term effects might be, many young people in our community have been impacted. As a school district, we want to do all that we can to support students in making healthy lifestyle decisions.
We have two staff members, Jill Hutcheson and Nancy Huntley, who have been trained in vaping education courses through the American Lung Association. Over the course of this school year, Jill and Nancy will be offering small group opportunities during the school day for interested students. Please see the program descriptions below, and contact either Nancy or Jill with questions.
If you are concerned about your child’s use or potential vulnerability to using tobacco or other drug products, there are links below with additional information about the program and a sign-up to participate in one of the small group opportunities. We will also be sending this information out to all middle and high school students to gauge their interest.

Friday, September 29-Sunday, October 1
In collaboration with Habitat for Humanity, the Village of Ellsworth, and Ellsworth High School, we invite you to take part in Rock the Block: Elevate Ellsworth. A neighborhood revitalization event where volunteers will tackle exterior projects on several Ellsworth homes.
This initiative is only possible with lots of volunteer help! A BIG thank you to those who have signed up to volunteer already! After reviewing each project, here's the latest on our volunteer needs from Habitat for Humanity:

Early next week, volunteers will receive an email with details about the project they’re working on.
Everyone who volunteers will receive a long-sleeved volunteer t-shirt, refreshments, and will be celebrated at the Rock the Block: Elevate Ellsworth Picnic (see below).

OT tips to go from Katelyn!
Want to help boost writing skills at home without making it feel like homework? Pull out some Play-Doh (or pipe cleaners, or slime, or line up some beads) and ask your student to describe the highlight of their day in one word… but they have to write it with Play-Doh!
Not only does this support letter formation and spelling, but it builds fine motor skills and hand strength. Plus it’s a fun sensory activity that will help calm your student’s body and explore the world around them.

Buttons are now for sale in the High School office during school hours if you missed ordering them with the Panthers Den gear. Buttons will also be for sale in the Panthers Den during home events.
They are $2.00 each. Each button is numbered, at half-time of the Homecoming game on October 6th we will draw for cash prizes.
Proceeds go to help keep Homecoming activities running in our district, as this is not a budgeted activity.
Thank you for supporting our mission to keep Homecoming events going in our schools and community. Also a BIG THANK YOU to Kayleen Jakes from Brush Strokes for making all the buttons for us :)

Nancy Huntley, Mental Health Coordinator and former School Counselor, will be hosting an online book club for any Ellsworth School District parents who want to connect with others and learn practical strategies to help children and teens work through their fears and worries.
Books will be available for you to borrow if you don't wish to purchase your own.
