Empower Ellsworth: Student Service Learning Grant Program On Tuesday, March 29th, a judging panel of community leaders listened to presentations by students and staff (on behalf of elementary students) from the Ellsworth Community School District. There were seven proposals that were awarded grants for the following year to undertake projects to make the Ellsworth Community a better place. Students were encouraged to look for opportunities for growth that would help the community.

#1: Ellsworth Tennis Clinic - $500 Grant 	Betsy Foster, Lander Levers, Josie Pechacek  This project is focused on building more interest in the high school tennis program.  The group is looking to host a summer camp for upper elementary/ middle school students to introduce them to the basics of tennis.
#4: FFA and 4-H Wash Rack Improvement- $750 Sam Hines  Sam is working with the Fair’s Livestock Committee, the Ellsworth FFA and 4-H groups to improve the drainage and facilities where livestock exhibitors wash and tend to their animals.  It is in need of improvement because of drainage and age issues and will be a major undertaking.  The grant of$750 will be used towards the bigger project, which will be undertaken by various groups and will cost approximately $6000.
#3: Ukraine: Food for Effect- $1000  Audrey Farrell, RaeAnna Smith, Payton Rohl, Joy Turvaville, Lexie Shelley, Maggie Berns, Tyler Boley, Anthony Madsen, Denys and Ryan Casper  This project’s goal is to host a fundraiser to support our Ukrainian exchange student and show support for all Ukrainians in the area and refugees.  They plan to host a dinner with traditional Ukrainian food and raise money for the Red Cross or, if possible, directly aide this student’s school, which has been damaged.
#2: Movie Night in the Park- $500 	Stephanie Jennings, Abigail Michels, Gabby McChane   This project’s goal is to host a few movie nights in the middle school football field for a fun community experience, providing refreshments and taking free will offerings for Feed My Starving Children.
Ellsworth has named our 2022 Senior Scholar Athletes as Jack Janke and Sidney Bartels. They will be honored at the Middle Border Conference Banquet next week Wednesday, April 6th.

EHS Freshman, Gavin Ricke is doing a service project. Help him fill up the food shelf with lots of Birthday goodies! Collection will start on Monday, March 28th and run through April 14th. Items can be dropped off at the food shelf on Mondays or Wednesdays during the hours of 4pm-6pm or placed in the gray tote outside the High School office.

Gavin Ricke is doing a service project starting next week.  He would like to challenge all of the first block classes (during morning excel) to bring components of birthday cake supplies for the food shelf (cupcake liners, cake mix, candles, frosting, etc).    The first block that brings the most items will get donuts and juice before Easter Break.  Help him fill up the food shelf with lots of Birthday goodies!  Collection will start on Monday, March 28th and run through April 14th.

Feb 25 at Northwestern High School, Molly Janke had one of the top Regional performances in Wisconsin, tallying 38 points and grabbing 17 rebounds. Molly drained 7 of 12 3-point shots on the evening and her 38 points gave her the top scoring game in Ellsworth Girls Basketball history. Former teammate, Autumn Earney had held the record with a 37-point showing in January of 2020. Earney, ever the teammate, heard of Molly's night and texted her "congratulations" before they returned to the high school on Friday night.

Due to testing at the HS next week we will have to change the menu for all schools. Tuesday and Thursday will be flipped. Tuesday March 22 will be Cheeseburger Menu and Thursday March 24 will be the Potato Bar MS/HS and Mac & Cheese for Elementary.

Congratulations to Alexie Shelley (Representing - Auxiliary Unite #357 Bay City) and Kallie Beissel (Representing - Auxiliary Unit #204 Ellsworth) who will be representing Ellsworth High School at Badger Girls State June 19-24, 2022 at the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh. American Legion Auxiliary Badger Girls State (ALABGS) is a week-long government and leadership conference for young women in their junior year of high school. Attendees of the program will learn by doing as they become citizens of the fifty-first state, the state of Badger. Citizens will have the opportunity to run for offices on the city, county and state levels of government and will work together to make Badger the best state in the Nation. Delegates of the program are sponsored by their local American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) unit, making the cost for the delegate free.

Please wish our 3 music students going down to Madison for WI State Honors Choir and Band. These 3 students competed against 1,400 other students from throughout the entire state for their positions. Jeremy Kannel is in the Mixed Choir as a Tenor, Joy Turvaville is in the Treble Choir as a Soprano, and Jocelyn Boyle is playing trumpet in the band. We are very proud of them and will be representing Ellsworth High School at the highest level.
