👵👴 Last Friday, EES opened its doors to warmly welcome grandparents for Grandparents Day! 💖 It was heartwarming to see so many extra guests in the building, sharing smiles, stories, and special moments with our students. Thank you to all the grandparents for joining us and making this day so memorable! Your presence truly brightened our school community. 🌟

🎭 Exciting things are happening at EES! Mrs. Traynor and her talented Intro to Theatre students visited the Elementary School to read to our enthusiastic 1st graders! 🎉 The students shared stories, sparked imaginations, and created a love for reading that we hope will last a lifetime. It was wonderful to see our older students inspire and engage with our young Panthers! 💚🐾 Thank you, Mrs. Traynor, for fostering this connection and helping build a strong community of readers!

A huge thank you to the Ellsworth Lions Club for providing vision screening at EES! Your dedication to our students' health and well-being is truly appreciated. Our amazing 5th graders from EES had the opportunity to head into the great outdoors with the Red Wing Environmental Learning Center! 🎉 Whether they were rock climbing, fishing at the Great Alma Fishing Float, canoeing, capturing nature through photography, or cooking outdoors, our students embraced every moment. The weather was absolutely perfect, making it an unforgettable experience! 🌞🌲 We’re so proud of our students for their adventurous spirit and teamwork! Way to go, Panthers!

At the time of this writing, it is approaching 80 degrees and sunny outside. It doesn't feel like we are approaching November and the conclusion of the first grading period of the school year. We recently held Homecoming Week district-wide and Grandparents’ Day at Ellsworth Elementary, and both were wildly successful. The positive energy and vibes from the students, staff, and parents/grandparents were palpable. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in planning and carrying out these events and activities! I am pleased to report that the planning related to the budget and the levy has landed where it was projected during the planning phases of the referendum in the 2023-24 school year. The mill rate for the 2024-25 school year will be 7.42, which is actually one penny less than the projected mill rate from the referendum planning that was presented at the January 2024 school board meeting. The construction project is entering the bidding phase as we look to begin construction and renovations this coming February. You will begin to see more renderings and visual representations of the spaces in the middle and high school. While we are excited to bring this project to fruition, there are always opportunities for partnership. The CTE programs at the middle and high school would benefit from equipment that is often expensive and cannot all be fit into the construction budget. This equipment will support programming that allows students to lead production and learn valuable workplace skills, while also meeting the needs of and supporting the community that supports them. We would welcome industry and community partnerships to address these opportunities. It is an exciting time to be an Ellsworth Panther! 🎤✨ On October 10th, students in grades 3-5 had the incredible opportunity to hear from ECSD Alumni Tasha Schuh, along with her husband Doug! 🙌 Tasha, an inspirational speaker, equips youth and educators to be resilient in their mental and emotional health. Her powerful message is centered around PATH: Purpose, Attitude, Team, and Hope – the very principles that helped her persevere after a life-changing theater accident at 16, which left her paralyzed from the chest down. 💪💛 Now, Tasha lives a vibrant and fulfilling life with Doug by her side. We were absolutely thrilled to welcome Tasha back to share her inspiring journey with our students!

October is National Physical Therapy Month! Shoutout to Maria Martino, who does so many amazing things for our students district-wide! From helping our littlest learners build up to important developmental milestones 🧒👶, to ensuring that our older students with physical disabilities can navigate their school environment safely and independently 🚶‍♂️🏫, Maria makes a huge difference every day! We still have a few openings for this awesome opportunity! It is open to ANY STUDENT within the ECSD. We are thrilled to announce that Ellsworth Middle School has partnered with the Minnesota Timberwolves for their “Get Fit” Program! This fantastic initiative encourages our youth to stay active and play every day outside of school. Here’s how it works: students earn points for every 15 minutes of movement. This can include a variety of everyday activities, such as playing at the playground, shoveling snow, or even walking your dog! If you accumulate 25 points or more, you will receive a complimentary ticket to a Timberwolves game this season! If you're interested in participating in the GET FIT program, please pick up an information sheet from the office. Forms are limited, so act fast! 🍏🍎 Applesauce Fun in Ms. Heitman's Class! 🍎🍏 We peeled, cut, and cooked apples to make some delicious crockpot applesauce! Our classroom smelled amazing all day, and most of us enjoyed the final product! 🍏🍯 It was a fun, hands-on way to learn and enjoy a sweet fall treat.
