March 2025 Updates
Groundbreaking Ceremony March 10th 2025
Official Groundbreaking Ceremony!
Almost one year ago, our community came together to invest in the future of our students and schools by passing the referendum. We were thrilled to celebrate the official groundbreaking for the high school addition and middle school renovations on Monday, March 10th, 2025.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this possible, including our school board members, administrators, staff, the Ellsworth Chamber and its members, community members, Kraus-Anderson, LHB, LHI, OEM, SF Insurance Group, the Village of Ellsworth, and our former superintendent, Barry Cain.
Your support is shaping the future of ECSD!

Preparing to Meet the Needs of Tomorrow’s Learners
If you’ve noticed the fencing and construction trailers around EHS, then you know that the time has arrived to begin the construction that was approved in April 2024. At EHS, we are beginning the process of expanding and improving our Career and Technical Education (CTE), Family and Consumer Science (FACS), Physical Education/Fitness spaces. The production spaces in the new CTE Center will be supported by relocating classrooms in proximity to each other and creating small group work areas to enhance collaborative efforts in both instruction and learning. The agriculture education program will see expanded space designed to support new opportunities for both in the classroom and lab setting, and in a new modern greenhouse. The new Fitness Center will provide students with the opportunity to improve their physical and mental health and wellness, while opening up possibilities for community partnerships. A newly designed school store located in proximity to the main high school gym will provide opportunities within the CTE program for entrepreneurship while promoting school spirit and have more flexibility and visibility during events that showcase our students and other community activities.
At EMS, we are upgrading areas in each grade level wing to allow for collaborative learning spaces that support innovative teaching and learning practices. These renovations will provide adequate space and are designed for flexible usage over time to meet the needs of an ever changing learning environment. The themes of collaboration and innovation have driven the vision and design from the start, and those themes will be readily apparent in the final product. In addition, we are updating the science classrooms, and addressing needs in the area of mechanicals, lighting, HVAC, and other infrastructure that are in need of replacement.
It is with deep gratitude to the community that we are able to move forward with this project and create spaces that will support the needs of students for years to come!
